The Mannheimer Kunstverein is exhibiting works from the diverse collection of Berlin art collector Dirk Lehr, spanning the period from the 1960s to the present day. I am delighted to be included with works from my series Soma, Supervisions, The Japan Series and Clouds.

Civilization—The Way We Live Now follows humanity’s visible traces around the globe from the perspective of more than 100 internationally renowned photographers. The exhibition sheds light on various aspects of our highly complex coexistence—from humankind’s great achievements to our collective failings.

Paradise sunset or urban light emissions? In my new series Aurora Urbanis I photograph the cloudy night sky, which becomes a projection surface for the artificial light emitted by cities. In the best sense, the images are photographic, »painted with light«, and yet they seem like the result of a computer-generated process—promising, but too good to be true.
I am excited that a first large-format work will be on show at Art Düsseldorf and Art Brussels.

The catalogue "Works 2023-1996", which was published on the occasion of my retrospective at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf, was awarded silver at this year's German Photo Book Award on November 25 at the Regensburg Photo Festival. Many thanks to the text authors Stephan Berg (Kunstmuseum Bonn), Ingo Taubhorn (Haus der Photographie, Hamburg) and Bettina Haiss (art historian, Cologne), who made a significant contribution to its success. Gefeller in a completely different way! Based on the photograph 019 (Water Reflection), just a few days ago I completed my first work using fabric as a basic material. Six semi-transparent layers allow a view of the structures underneath and back in time. The work, 60 x 80 cm, is available in an edition of 10 and will be presented alongside editions by Daniel Baker, Thomas Baldischwyler, Marc Brandenburg, Thomas Lohr, Anselm Reyle, Huang Rui, Rosemarie Trockel and Johannes Wohnseifer as part of the double exhibition by EJTECH and Thomas Lohr.

The ninth laureate will be announced at the opening of the award exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London in December 2021.

The grand reopening summer show of Sous Les Étoiles Gallery showcases photography of various styles and media by artists Carolle Benitah, Julie Boserup, Richard Caldicott, Gianfranco Chiavacci, Luuk de Haan, Jean-Pierre Laffont, Andreas Gefeller, Georges Rousse, Marleen Sleeuwits and Harvey Stein. These works contemplate the phenomenological realities of the spatial and temporal dimensions surrounding us, leading viewers to muse upon the multifaceted manners in which the world manifests itself.
